Statement from State

The fair board of any county, district, or the state fair reserves the right to have a blood and urine laboratory analysis made for any animal at their fair. Any exhibitor administering a drug to an animal which would render the carcass unfit for human consumption or any exhibitor of an animal producing an analysis indicating the presence of an unapproved drug that can result in a quantitative or qualitative change in the characteristic of the animal will be required to return all premium money and could be banned from further competition. Their name and the lab analysis will be submitted to the USDA and FDA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Regulations
1. Entries are limited to Newton County residents only.
2. All animals must be owned thirty (30) days prior to exhibit.
3. Cattle are to be halter broken. Neck ropes or collars should be used at night.
4. Livestock can be bedded on sawdust, shavings, straw, or other material provided by the exhibitor. Livestock should be kept clean and the area neat.
5. In order to qualify for the Premium Sale, animal must be market animals, with the exception of the grand and reserve champion replacement heifers. Exhibitors must pre-register their animals with their Ag. instructor or county agent. No premiums will be paid unless pens are cleaned by check out time.
6. If space is available, show boxes and other material may be kept in the barn.
7. Exhibitors are responsible for care and feeding of animals and must be present for judging. Any exceptions will be determined by livestock superintendent on a case by case basis.
8.  Showmanship ages will be determined at the day of the show.
9.  Livestock check-in will be Sunday, August 21, between 1 and 5 p.m.
10. Judging will be Monday, August 22, at 6 p.m.
11. Premium Sale will begin approximately at 7 p.m. Tuesday night, August 23. Poultry Chain Chicken Auction will be immediately after the premium sale. Livestock will be released at the discretion of the livestock superintendent after premium sale.
12. When a division is determined by weight there will be no single entry class. Exhibit will be placed into the closest weight class.
13. Judges’ decisions are final.

NOTE: You must fill out and send in an animal entry form. This form can be picked up at the Newton County Extension Office, Fair Board, any Newton County Agri. instructor or you may copy it from this tab.

No exhibits will be permitted to show without an entry form. There is also an entry fee for each animal you wish to show.

Disclosure
Any animal receiving medication for any life threatening disease or illness must be registered at the time they are entered in the fair.

For All Divisions:
1.  Exhibitor authorizes the Newton County Fair to display exhibit. Any exhibit displayed shall be at the risk of the exhibitor. It is understood that exhibits are entered to be evaluated for prizes only. The exhibitor, his or her guardian or the person who enters the exhibit on the exhibitor's behalf, expressly assumes any and all liability or responsibility for any accident, loss or damage to person or property as a result of his or her participation, or arising out of the display of his or her exhibit, whether it be caused by the negligence or otherwise of the Newton County Fair, its Officers, Directors, Employees, Volunteers and Agents. By entering an exhibit, the Exhibitor, his or her guardian or the person who enters the exhibit on the Exhibitor's behalf, agrees to waive any and all claims, damages, demands, or cost against the Newton County Fair Board and its Officers, Directors, Employees, Volunteers and Agents.
2. No smoking or lighted candles, lamps, matches, etc., will be allowed in any stalls or booths on the grounds or in the building and/or tents.
3. Advertising by means of posters, prints, handbills, etc., will not be permitted on the Fairgrounds except upon written agreement of the management.
4. Sale of any article or service is prohibited except where approved by the Fair management through written contractual arrangement.
5.  Students exhibitors, parents and/or guardians will not be allowed to sleep overnight on the fairgrounds, except upon written agreement authorized by the Fair Management.
6.  All exhibits must have been raised/trained/grown by the student exhibitor.
7.  All exhibits must be checked in by the division superintendent(s).
8.  The management of The Fair and the Exhibits Department and/or their designee reserve the right to remove and disqualify any exhibit which is not in the best interest of The Fair, or which is objectionable to The Fair, or endangers the public; or is objectionable in any way; or has been entered in violation of these official rules and regulations; or to reject, limit or disqualify the acceptance of, or the display of, any exhibit brought to the fairgrounds.
