It's finally here!! Fair week has begun!! We are so excited for this year's fair.
Exhibits
Livestock and educational exhibits have been checked in and judging will begin today. The livestock show will begin at 6 pm tonight, August 18th. Premium sale will be tomorrow at 7 pm. Our wonderful friends from Western Sizzlin will be providing the food once again. Please let them know how much you appreciate their support of the Newton County Fair.
Bull Jam
John Villines and Villines Lock and Key, LLC is once again the sponsor of the Bull Jam. All bull riding, all night. Last year's event had more than 40 contestants from 10 states. This year promises to be the same amazing show you have grown to love.
Rodeo
Last year's Ramsey Motor Company Rodeo was awarded the 2013 ACA Rodeo of the Year! We are so honored by this prestigious award. Our family at Hall Rodeo, LLC and Rockin' P Rodeo Productions will have an amazing show for all of you rodeo fans. Friday night we will honor the men and women that have served or are serving this amazing country that we all call home. Saturday night is Pink Night. Wear pink and be proud! All of the proceeds will go to the Newton County Cancer Support Group.
Carnival
The carnival has started to pull in to the fair grounds. No one is happier to see them than the members of the fair board. We have worked so hard to find someone that will deviate from their scheduled route to drive out of their way to come to our fair. Mr. Choate of Star Amusements agreed to take a chance and drive more than 150 miles out of his way to be here for our fair. So let's not forget that and make sure we thank him for being here. Carnival is open Thursday - Saturday at 6 pm nightly. Every night is armband night.
Frequently Asked Questions
Be sure to check out our FAQs page to find answers to some of the questions we are asked almost daily. If you are interested in being a part of the fair, we are always looking for volunteers during fair time or fill out a membership application on the Board page. Being a part of the fair board is not for the "faint of heart." One of our new recruits said "this is the hardest job I have ever done." It is a lot of work, but it also a lot fun. We are all volunteers and we pour our blood, sweat, and tears in to the fair each and every year...and we love it.
